The Elastic Adhesive bandage (EAB) is a strong strapping bandage that can be used for ankle taping, knee taping, hand taping and wrist taping. It is frequently used by sports physios in the prevention and treatment of sprained ankles. The high quality of these bandages ensure that they unroll smoothly and conform to the body easily. Because they have a small amount of give due to their elastic nature, they provide superb support for joint sprains but are also super comfortable.
Here you will learn how to do it with a few type of tapes. The way that will really done is using tensoplast, lightplast and underwrap. The tensoplast is an elastic tape that is very strong for supporting bandaging. The lightplast is for anchoring, and underwrap is for pre-taping job.
Prepare the Skin. Most of us will spray down the leg before taping to have it stick better.
First apply a foam underwrap all way down to the bottom of the feet.
Second, make anchors using the a few strips of athletic tape on top and bottom of the feet.
Have the foot heel in front position. Now we will have 2inch and 3inch of elastic adhesive bandage, the same product as tensoplast. Have the foot going up slightly, then start at the lateral side foot and tape across over the foot around the heel and work your way up to the top anchor. Then take a second one starting from another lateral side of foot and do the same job and end up at the top anchor.
Take a last tape with the 3inch tensoplast and go straight up from the middle of the foot, premeasured the length and then cut it and split down the middle. Pull the two splitted strips and lay them down around the ankle with tension at the same time.
Have the patient sit up, and the last thing to do is secure with a lightplast. Just roll down the foot to have all tapes secured. Now the taping job is finished.
